Yes, we are creating multiple "selves" and multiple profiles on mulitiple networks (and even multiple search engines) now.

There are already multiple "Internets" in the world.

If I were a Facebook executive, I would be concerned that the community is self-censoring to the point of boring each other. Engagement is way down. A lot of my friends have abandoned it, or don't check in much anymore.

If we hear that the President of the USA can be censored or deleted from a platform -- what does that mean for us?

Maybe this is best for both our privacy, and our personal brand and reputation, to target specific friend or business circles with specific messages, anyway.

Or keep private thoughts in private sub-groups where we can speak our truth under an alias.

I decided to re-tweet this story because self-censorship is top of mind now in Covid times.

People are afraid to speak their truth, if it does not fit the predominant narrative, so they are starting to share information "behind the screens" in Facebook Instant Messenger.

Another trend I see is posting a hint on Facebook that leads to an offline chat on Telegram.

Facebook isn't dead, but lively discourse on it is.

We're afraid to say anthing anymore -- and the penalty is being "Unfriended" or blocked, or even removed altogether, and cut off from your community.

If you're a writer there are no bad experiences in life. Everything is material. Researching my next book, "One Steak at a Time."
